The litehouse at Port Lavaca Texas was once on station in Matagorda Bay.. It is now a museum. The Middle Bay Light in Mobile Bay, just like this one, is still on location although it no longer is used as an aid to navigation. |

These sand hill cranes in Texas are hunted part of the year. This autumn picture of them in a pasture was taken from the roadside near Palacios TX . I always took my time driving in Texas to take advantage of the many "photo ops" overlooked when travelling at high speed. Further south in the Aransas Wildlife Refuge is the wintering grounds for their cousins, the last remaining whooping cranes. |
