Redstone Arsenal meets Alabama College |
These pictures were taken in 1956 and 1957 at Alabama College (renamed Montevallo University) in Montevallo Alabama. The young men all came to Montevallo as part of an "exchange". They volunteered to come for the dances and were paired up with the young women students who also volunteered for the blind date event. In those days, ASCW (Alabama State College for Women) was just going coed, and only TWO male students were enrolled. So dates were in short supply. No one expected that such fellowship would result from totally random pairings for that first dance. As I remember it, it was one of the happiest times of my life. I dedicate this page to all the friends who were there, who are still there in my fondest memories almost 50 years later. BJ September 07, 2003 |

These two combined shots were taken when Dick Baker and Bill Hogan came to Mobile Alabama to visit Margie and BJ. Scenes depicted from Fairhope picnic grounds, Fairhope Yacht Club, and inside the fortifications of old Civil War Fort Morgan. Bill is the one with his head cut off. Photography was not one of Dick's better skills. |
